Frequently Asked Questions....
Why should we get our portraits created by you?
Because I'm a nice guy. Next question.
No, really.
OK, let me mention some unique factors about choosing our studio...
#1 We guarantee everything we do. If you're not thrilled, we either create additional
images, or give you all your money back. No hard feelings, either. We are absolutely
committed to creating the finest portraits you have ever had created.
#2 I only do a maximum of two portrait sessions a day, so you are not rushed through
like a factory - so I can take the time necessary to make really beautiful portraits of
you. I am much more interested in creating wonderful images for you, rather than
working with hundreds and hundreds of clients each year. You simply can not rush
when you want to create a truly beautiful, meaningful portrait!
#3 We specialize in creating portraits on location, at a location that is emotionally
meaningful to you - this makes the portraits much more personal, and special to you.
It means so much more to you than if we simply created the portraits in our studio.
#4 I meet with you prior to creating the portraits if you like, to help you with decisions,
hair, clothing, locations, etc. Plus, we meet everyone, in person, prior to the session
if possible, so everyone knows us. This is especially great with young children who
otherwise might be afraid, and thus not look natural and comfortable in their portrait.
#5 I actually have a college Bachelor of Science degree in photography so I understand
what it takes to get the shot no matter what. I went through 4 years of college training
to pursue my dream of creating images and to meet and exceed the demands of
clients that want the best images possible from an aesthetic and technical standpoint.
#6 I really am a nice guy.
Do you do weddings?
Nope, sorry. I get asked all the time but I really like shooting high school seniors and
my commercial/fine art work so I have to draw the line somewhere. All work and no
play makes me grumpy, even when I love my work.
What's your favorite camera?
My iPhone 4 because that is always with me no matter what. It does some cool stuff
and there's all kinds of apps for just the camera part of the phone. But for commercial
shoots it would be my Nikon D3s. It may cost $5200 but it's totally awesome in low
light with very little noise up to 12k ISO and shoots 11 frames/sec for sports. Plus the
processor (the most important part of a good camera) is unparalleled for image
quality, color and trueness. It's been dropped, stormed on, snowed on, below sea level
to 14,000 feet and all around the country without ever missing a shot. I have been
playing with a Nikon D7000 that I use for family stuff that is pretty cool too. For a
$1300 camera, it's got a lot of features. I use Nikon lenses from 14mm f2.8 to a 300
f2.8 which are widely regarded as the sharpest glass available to pros.
Do you print your photos at Wal-Mart?
Hahahaha....no.....I use a professional lab in California that makes beautiful prints of
my images, full of color and detail. I won't touch Wal-Mart, Target or the others
because they don't color correct by sight with a trained printer or offer near the image
quality. There really is a difference! Even among the pro labs there can be big
differences. That's why I stick with one that's halfway across the country. Because
quality counts!
I want to do something really different for my senior photos, maybe involving airplanes,
tall buildings or fire.
Bring it on! As long as neither one of us gets maimed, killed or ends up in jail I'm for it.
I've climbed towers, grain bins, been in with hogs and bulls, shot from airplanes and
helicopters, been around waaay too much firepower, and more. That's the stuff that
makes it fun!
OK, I just want to bring my pet along....
Awesome, I love all animals. Our family has dogs, cats, horses and a bearded dragon.
I have had dogs, cats, hamsters and more in the studio. I've done portraits with horses,
hogs, cattle, sheep and more. Got a snake? I haven't shot a snake yet!
